Alongside the SAVED Tutorials, Stage 1 trainees will be expected to attend the regional training programme (Primary FRCA Study Days). These consists of face-to-face courses lasting 1-2 days at sites around the North West.

In Year 1 & 2 there are currently 6 mandatory Stand-alone courses within the Primary Course Fees, top-sliced from the Study Leave Budget. Unless otherwise indicated, these are whole study days. Please arrange your Study leave and register with the respective Administrator 4 weeks prior to the course date. Should you need to cancel please inform Elena Wheeler (or the respective administrator) so that your place may be reallocated. Cancellation fees will apply in line with the North West Deanery policy.

STEP/ STOP Workbooks
Each trainee will have Educational Development time (EDT)-usually Tuesday or Wednesday pm (department dependant). We expect you to cover the main areas in the curriculum during this time if you have not yet completed the FRCA. You should use the STEP/STOP workbook as a guide to complete the SAVE’d tutorial and resources on e-lfh. The workbooks lists the topic areas expected to cover and can be uploaded to your portfolio for ARCP as evidence of engagement in learning during EDT.

FRCA Primary Exam Preparation
There are a number of exam resources available to trainees, including the viva club, the SBA Primary course and the Viva practice course.

Exam Courses (NW)Please follow these rules of engagement when accessing Zoom/ Teams tutorials:
1) Please join the session a few minutes before the session starts. The only attendees who will be able to attend late are those who have been unable to join due to travelling from hospital following an on-call shift.
2) Choose to connect by audio and then allow to share video. Attendees who do not share video will be asked to turn the camera on, and if not done, may be excluded from the session.
3) Once the presentation starts, could you please mute your microphone to minimise background noise. When asked questions, please unmute to answer.
4) Use the chat function if needed to ask questions during the presentation. If there is a problem with audio or the visuals, please unmute to ask the presenter to rectify it.
